Can I block 4G and WiFi on a specific phone ?

We are with BT. I have 3 high school children. The older two I’m leaving to it but my 11 year old really needs a bit of structure . Currently glued to phone or x box every waking hour.
Switching WiFi off a pain for everyone plus he still has 4G for the phone. I wondered if there’s a way to disable his 4G and WiFi after a certain time? BT live chat is not working at present.

We can disable WiFi for DS iPad/phone so we can still use it but we can’t turn his 4G off. I’m not with BT but you should be able to turn WiFi off via control panel.

Have times of the day when they can/cannot be on devices. The devices are with you when not in use

You might be best finding a parental control app (if one exists!) that means you can switch the phone off from your own phone at designated times. There must be one out there that does that. I know DD’s kindle has this kind of thing and it does really help.

Family Link ap does just this. You need to install it on both your phone and theirs. You can set the time the phone is locked and if they delete it, it automatically locks the phone!! It's only for android phones though - DS now has an Iphone and I'm on the lookout for something which works with it.

With any luck, someone will come on here with some more specifics but some of it depends how you set up the device. Apple has a thing where you can set up an iPhone to have a master passcode for parents. You set up your child's apple ID as a child account.

There is a way to do this on non-Apple phones too.

and using that master passcode, there's a way to block apps either temporarily or on a schedule (not usable 9pm - 7am for example) so that the user can access things he/she needs for school work but can't, say, surf the wider web or waste time on games.

I don't think you can block 4G/data but you could block the apps your child uses to waste time.

If you set up the parental settings on the xbox you can set time limits.
You can do the same with Google parents app to phone

GreenTulips · 28/04/2020 13:12

Either the modem has parental controls
Or
You can buy a koala box to disable the WiFi per individual person and their devises and leave the sky box etc WiFi enabled
Parent can control days times homework blocksites restrict social media etc

No idea on 4G - don’t pay the bill?

Thanks all I will look for an app. Stopping WiFi saves the x box issue but he can still watch you tube videos Of people playing the x box and endless mindless tic tocs. There is a 4 g limit but it’s pretty big. The battle to physically remove the phone is too stressful so if I can disable it so much better.
