Hello everybody! My 17-year-old son has been writing stories since he was 10 and has already finished three 200+ page novels. He wants to go into writing and screenwriting as a career and I was wondering how I would help him go about that....
Thank you so much!

Is he planning on University? There are creative writing courses...but...I would also suggest that he looks into working as a writer in a 'bread and butter' type way first. This will give him an income whilst he writes.

He could look at becoming a copy and content writer or go into journalism.

In the meantime...with regards to his writing...he just has to keep at it. Has he submitted his novels to an agent or publishing house?

Missed the screenwriting part. There are degrees for that too. He should look at that because those skills are more transferable in a commercial way. For instance working in advertising and marketing.

There's definitely an ambition there so I'd support it.
@55BillHadersNewWife absolutely spot on Smile
