This is my first post - so apologies in advance if i am posting in the wrong place.
My DD just turned 16 yrs old and apart from trying to do couch to 5K at home she doesn't do any other physical activities/classes. When we talk about, it always comes back to: i will be so rubbish and everyone else will be better than me. I try to explain that she just needs to start and it will be fine but she won't hear of it.
What can i do to help her? I thought of perhaps taking her to zumba or aerobics where its not competitive - but i would like her to join something that is social and team work based too. Perhaps i just need to back off and let her choose and go for it. Am kicking myself now thinking i should have got her in to something when she was 5 yrs old - but i cant turn back the time. She did go to ballet, tap and jazz as a child and loved it. then had a break and now wont go back as "she will be so rubbish". :|
Please let me know what you think is the best way forward.
This is to help her get fit as well as to build up her confidence.
