I work in a library and we're trying to enourage more teenage/YA borrowers.

It would be great to know which book series/authors your teenagers enjoy reading.

Thanks!

I made a 4-page list of what I consider to be well-written YA books, with comments. Would you like me to send you a copy? (Not sure if this can be done by PM but could try.) I wrote it specifically for librarians!

HoHoHolyCow · 08/09/2019 17:41

@leonardthelemming yes please! That would be great. I can pm you my email address?

Yes, that would work.

John Green
Sarah J Maas
Laini Taylor
Leigh Bardugo
Neil Shusterman
Angie Thomas
Holly Black
Patrick Ness
Brandon Sanderson
Becky Albertalli

I’m a big YA reader and there are some of the bigger names that have quite a few popular books. Then of course there’s Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight, all of which are old but still quite popular.

birdlawyer · 08/09/2019 18:08

And The Raven Boys! Can’t forget The Raven Boys! Great series!

@leonardthelemming I don't suppose I could be so bold as to ask for a copy of your list too? My Dd devours books and I'd love some recommendations that I can order from the library.

I will ask her later for her recommendations too.

My teen loves any books about zombies and horror.
He’s actually reading a James Herbert book at the moment.
He’s also enjoyed Maze runner and Hunger Games.

@TractorTartofThigh

I'm happy to send it but it looks as though it will have to be by email.
PM me?

HRoosevelt · 08/09/2019 18:41

Lemming, please can we see your list?

HoHoHolyCow · 08/09/2019 18:56

Thanks so much everyone!

@HRoosevelt

It's a 4-page pdf, so will have to be sent by email. If anyone wants a copy just PM me an email address to send it to.

I should perhaps point out that the authors in the list are Indie authors who in my opinion deserve to be better known. And they mostly publish eBooks.
I started reading YA on my Kindle and found there are some awful books out there. My list is an attempt to make the better ones better known.

leonardthelemming · 08/09/2019 22:00

I've just checked and it's actually a seven-page pdf...

MoobaaMoobaa · 10/09/2019 16:14

off the top of my head
Robert Harris
Anthony Horowitz
Tom Clancy

MoobaaMoobaa · 10/09/2019 16:24

Also a couple of George Orwell books.

A book by Philip K dick. Blade runner was based on it.

properly others too, but I only know the ones he talks about.
