So we go away shortly and my 14 year old DD has just started her period today. They can be lengthy, sometimes 10 days long and she is quite hesitant to try tampax 😕 Does anyone have any other ideas to allow her to go in the pool whilst we are away 🤷‍♀️ She will be bored to tears if she can't be in and out of the pool for the first week of our holiday 🤔

I wondered whether there was any kind of protective swimwear 🤷‍♀️

You can definitely buy period swimwear. Not sure how reliable it is but have seen it advertised. Google it xx

Period swimwear exists. Also look at sea sponges as an alternative.

Also buy her some easy dry black shorts she can swim in as she may feel more comfortable.

I came on unexpectedly 2 days before summer holiday. Use tampons, but knew would be spending lots of time at beach where toilet facilities are often limited. Order swimsuits from modibodi - next day delivery. Also some period pants. They have been brilliant. Highly recommend.

What about a menstrual cup? You can get lots of different types. There are lots of videos with info about them on youtube. Maybe watch some together I remember seeing a teenage girl reviewing them. Might give her the confidence to give it a go.

apparently this swimming costume, whilst for light incontinence, does the same job as period swimwear. i watched the video on the website and you can't see any difference between it and normal swimwear when its on.

Could she start using tampons now? Lil lets do a teen range which are smaller and slimmer to use

I bought my dd period bikini bottoms from
Modibodi- they came in 3 working days and were amazing. I must have caught them at a time where they had stock as was dithering between 2 sizes (would say true to size).
Great for towards end of period when it’s light.
She absolutely refuses to try tampons now so there was no choice.

We are on holiday now and we suspected that DD (13) would get her period whilst here. She has only used sanitary towels up until now and was very reluctant to use tampons. But I did bring some tampax compak away with us and it’s been a godsend as she did her her period. She has been able to use them fine although she needed quite a bit of time and privacy to begin with. Now she thinks she will use them all the time and doesn’t know what she would have done on holiday without them.

I would try and talk to her again, perhaps see if she’s willing to give it a practice before you go? I bought tanpax pearl and tampax compak so DD could see which she preferred. They are both pretty small and ideal for teens.
