Clothing for teenage boys

This seems a bit trivial in comparison to some stuff being posted here, so apologies if it's in the wrong place!
I am finding it difficult to find clothing for my teenage boy (13.5) - not quite big enough for men's sizing yet, but too big for boys clothes!
He's not really into wearing sports gear so we need jeans and tshirts etc.
Any help appreciated!

H&M older boys goes up to 14+, and it might be worth trying xs men's in top man or uniqlo ? Mine's been wearing those since he was about 5'5" though he is still in 'older boys' trousers.

My 14 year old is in H&M jeans as it's the only brand that i can find to fit his skinny build. T shirts - he normally he wears Under Armour, Uniqlo or Gap. He has one best shirt (Animal) which he can be persuaded to on special occasions!

Matalan and Asda are my go to for my tall 12yo (he’s already over 5’ 3). Occasionally find the odd bit in primark. Next is also good for sizing online but a bit expensive!

Noted. Where do people buy shoes and socks and hats for boys who are size 4-5 - too big for child ranges, too small for mens, and women's often not suitable?

At least womens plain black socks exist, but I'm struggling with school shoes and PE shoes and sunhats atm.

WhatHaveIFound · 03/07/2019 12:12

DS's socks come from the kids section at M&S. They do a 4-7 size in black school & sports socks. Pants generally from H&M as did his straw sunhat.

His last school shoes were from M&S but he's getting too big for them so will look elsewhere this September. The trouble is he has very thin (and flat) feet.

Next go up to age 16-I found them really good for basics such as jeans and T-shirts

WhatHaveIFound · 03/07/2019 12:15

What about this sunhat?

MadisonAvenue · 03/07/2019 12:17

Mine are a bit older now but I used to buy loads from H&M for them at that age.

Topman do a xxs size, not so much in the stores but online.

Cherry111 · 03/07/2019 12:53

I'm sure River Island do nice T-shirt's and shirts in XS also Next and Topman. Also, ASOS online if you put in and filter to XXS or XS. My son is a small 17 and likes ASOS

Watching with interest. I have a 12 year old who is 5ft 8 and I struggle, particularly as he has thick thighs, but isn't really large waisted/hipped.

Luckily he isn't into fashion so I just get him joggers from tesco in mens medium. I'd like to get him something nice for a change though.

lilpumpsmum · 03/07/2019 14:34

Had this exact problem. Topshop XXS was a life saver when I found it!

Wimbles101 · 03/07/2019 15:07

Thank you all! This is sooo helpful!

I'm back in H&M who now seem to have 14+ stuff in, which is brilliant.

Re. shoes - we've been ok in M&S up to now - that's where his last pair came from - but he's definitely more of a size 6 now, so basically a ladies but not a men's size! Once he's size 7 he's fine which I'm sure will happen soon enough!

Next do socks in size 4-7. We have thousands of them. Clarks and startrite school shoes go up to size 8 or 9 I think and you can get narrow width online - I have given up getting ds to an actual shop

Theyellowsquare · 03/07/2019 18:34

I got superdry size s or xs for my short 14 year old. I bought bits online in sales so they are ridiculously priced.

Chewbecca · 03/07/2019 18:34

There's not much choice. H&M up to 14 but then stops and adult is too big. Next goes larger but their trousers tend to be very skinny in the leg. Boden goes to 16 but some styles are childish (bring back Johnnie B!). M&S for plain t shirts.

Theyellowsquare · 03/07/2019 18:34

Aren't lol
