Dd has just finished her GCSEs. She is completely addicted to her phone. She doesn’t have any hobbies apart from playing a musical instrument.

Any suggestions on how to ensure she doesn’t spend the whole summer on her phone? Dh and I both work, dh full time, me part time so there will be a lot of time when she is home alone - we have a ds but he’ll be at school (obviously not in the holidays but she has more to occupy her then).

Thanks

Meet up with friends IRL?
Work a few hrs a week?

She already has a job every Saturday evening, waitressing and yes I am sure she will be meeting friends too but it’s her phone usage which is my biggest concern.

I'd give her a break for now, she probably needs a bit of off time after the exams.

What are you worried about regarding the phone usage? Is it concern about what she’s doing on the phone? Or concern that’s she’s not socialising/exercising?

Op I have had to do phone restriction this week. I txt her before i got home to leave phone in house and take dog out when I arrived home she was outside so next job was clean out my car. Then clear up dishes.
If you give her tasks to do the days you are at work like make dinner.
Do her washing and ironing
Take her out on your day off to cinema for a walk cook together
As long as she does one job a day agree she can have phone the rest off the time.

Do school not require them to be in and learning?
I made sure mine had a schedule of activities planned - some work experiences, some life learning and cv building stuff. They used their phones sometimes it difficult when working somewhere.
