Collecting dirty dishes in DS's (16) room and found this. It reeks of cannabis but does anyone know what the paper tubes are for? They're empty, just little cardboard tubes. I couldn't find anything by googling. Thanks.

Do you recognise this drug paraphernalia?

Looks like roach... substitute for cigarette filters.

GirlInTheDirtyShirt · 08/04/2019 09:47

Gosh 'roaches' are far more sophisticated now aren't they! They used to be a bit if ripped up fag packet!

TheQueef · 08/04/2019 10:03

They are flavoured roaches. Used for smoking cannabis. There may be glass ones too.

TheQueef · 08/04/2019 10:05

Sos you buy a little booklet these days of you order from Amazon you get free roaches with fab papers.
No more vandalised b&h packs Grin

Thank you so much! I know he occasionally smokes cannabis but feared the cardboard tubes were used for something more serious. Whew!

I’d be heartbroken if I found this in DC’s room. 16 is still a child. I hope you’ve stopped giving him any money whatsoever. You, at least, shouldn’t be funding this crap!

chicaguapa · 08/04/2019 10:31

Actually that's incredibly serious for a 16 yo for all sorts of reasons, including brain health and mental health. Hmm But fill your boots!

BrokenWing · 08/04/2019 13:42

Whew!

16 and smoking illegal drug, whew! Hmm

Hiphopopotamus · 08/04/2019 13:45

Whew? Really?

Mumshappy · 08/04/2019 13:47

I wouldnt be relieved.

Definitely roaches. I too understand why you’re relieved. prepare yourself for many lectures though

BrokenWing · 09/04/2019 13:43

prepare yourself for many lectures though

regular drug taking by 16 year olds is not really something to minimalise or feel relieved about, it really isn't! Most (or all I know) parents on finding this would not be thinking Whew! Fair enough if the OP is working hard on that situation, but saying Whew gives that impression to other parents that they don't need to worry and it's ok when it is far from it.

my father started smoking weed young ,he went from having a private education having a full university education to living on benefits .It destroyed his mental health. He ended up relying on it every time he felt even a bit stressed. My memory's of him are a extremely intelligent man who was extremely paranoid.

Problem is how do you tackle this without pushing them away.Teens dont respond well to lectures and will hide things more if you get angry.
