My son asked me if he could sleep round his friend's house today and I said whos house. He said this girl. I said that I don't think boys and girls should be sleeping in the same room this age but my son said that him and the girl were just friends and have known each other for 3 yrs. They are both mature but I wasnt comfortable with letting sleep in the same room so I told him he can't go. He is really upset about it. What would everyone else done in this situation???

I’m conflicted. I have a 14 and 15 yo ds and dd. They’re part of a huge friendship group. They both have friends for sleepovers at the same time, but there’s usually a big group of them camped out in sleeping bags in the front room watching films til 4am (and eating a weeks worth of snacks in one night)
It comes down to trust really. I trust them. Plus it’s glass doors, and they know I can walk in at any time

No chance. I mean I'm sure the girls parents would have said no anyway (unless they are really dense) but no I wouldn't have allowed a son to do that either. It wouldn't be appropriate. Show him the replies here, he'll see everyone agrees with you.

No way. Sleeping in the same room overnight alone completely changes the dynamic. What do they want to do at night that they can't just do in the daytime together?

13 is too young.

Aridane it's taken them a good few weeks to hold hands and the same again to kiss. Were talking peck on the cheek kiss not a full on snog. He talks very openly with my husband so I have no concerns

It's a difficult one. I have a friend who I had sleepovers with from about 15. He was 15 too. We crashed in the same bed all the time. At 17/18 we practically lived at each other's at the weekends. I've never even kissed the guy. He's my best friend. It would be weird.
20 years on, I'm his "best man" when he gets married next year.
