What time does your 13 year old go to bed/sleep?

Ours is always up at 6.15 to give herself plenty of time to get ready for 7.15 leaving. She tends to go upstairs 8.30-9 and, after reading goes to sleep 9-9.30. Is this early or usual?

My 13 yr old DSD decided to take herself off to bed at 2130 tonight. She's up for her sport early. Will probably go to bed about 2200/2230 tomorrow night.

Sounds fine to me Smile

GalacticChickenShit · 26/01/2019 17:38

From my experience it seems quite earlier than average, but if that's the sleep she needs then that's the way it is.
My 13 year old goes to bed at 9 and falls asleep to music on her phone, probably 9.30/10

At 13 it’s recommended that they get between 9 and 11 hours, so given the early start, I don’t think it’s particularly early Smile

Thanks all! Sounds as if it's early ish but not weirdly so and gives her guideline levels of sleep. Phew.

Similar here, in her bedroom by 8pm to read (electronics downstairs), lights out about 9pm most nights. But, 3 nights a week, she isn't home until 9:30pm.
When she wakes depends on what she did the night before. She has coached sports training 10 hours a week so sleep is needed.

Screens out at 9 and sleep 9.30 for my 13 year old, he has autism and is up at 6am as school is over an hour away. Friday's and Saturdays are 10.30 as he likes a lie in, usually 9, which to us is late up lol x

My 13-year-old ds's birthday is officially 9:30. We pretend to not notice, but he usually stays up 'till midnight or later. He seems well rested the next day anyway. Should I do something (he wakes up at 6:15)

Pawprintjoy · 31/01/2019 04:01

SuperMommy63 If he wakes up fine and is okay during the day then I’d say he’s fine. DD2 has just turned 14 and her bedtime is officially 10 but she often stays up till midnight or a bit later but then she’s always been a bit of a night owl. If he functions fine I wouldn’t worry

Ours is 10pm but that also includes any reading time etc. He thinks he is staying up for Super Bowl tonight. He seems fine and always gets up and performs well. DS2 on the other hand could go to bed at 6pm and still struggle in the morning.

14yo goes to sleep 11pm-ish and gets up 06:30.

16yo goes to sleep 10:30pm and gets up 07:00.

14yo never seems tired, 16yo often is.

Everyone is different.
