Thirteen. Eleven and even twelve done end in 'teen'

concernedforthefuture · 16/01/2019 22:28

Urm 13. By definition it's the years that end in -teen.

TeenTimesTwo · 17/01/2019 14:10

Teenage from 13-19 inclusive.

Teenage behaviour though can start whenever!

Tinty · 17/01/2019 14:15

If you are talking about typical teenage behaviour, then anywhere from 8 upwards if they start puberty early.

If you mean when is a DC a teenager then it is obviously 13 - 19.

My DS on the other hand gets called a twenty oneteen by his 13 year old DSis, and I'm not sure she is wrong. Grin

13, but is he British? Some other cultures have a different perception. For example in Germany it's considered to be 10 that you are no longer "Kinder" but "Jungend". Jungend translates as youth but the more typical translation is teenager.

Kenworthington · 17/01/2019 14:20

ThirTEEN. Clue is in the name

Tonsilss · 17/01/2019 14:21

Behaviourally I'd say 12.
German children move to secondary school at 10 - prob why you're a youth at that age. They also encourage more independence in children than we do in the UK.

theworldistoosmall · 17/01/2019 14:23

Eleventeen? It doesn't exist. Teens start at 13. Behaviour anytime from 9 - 15 ime.

BertieBotts · 17/01/2019 14:24

Oops, I mean Jugend. And apparently legally it's 14. But 10 is often a cut off for things and colloquially it's used as a barrier at least where I am.

goldengummybear · 17/01/2019 15:37

13 because it ends in teen but 11 year olds in secondary are very similar to 13 yo.

ThereIsIron · 17/01/2019 15:43
  1. 12 is a Tweenager
NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 17/01/2019 16:38

you're only a teenager if your age ends in teen. How odd of your DP to think that 11 and 12 years olds are teenagers.

cloudtree · 17/01/2019 16:39

13 - but the behaviour starts at around 10/11 IME
