I was speaking to a friend today and told her that dd had got a boyfriend. I said he was a lovely lad and they just hold hands and havent kissed yet. She told me I was ridiculous and she wouldnt tell me even if they had. I said she would. Anyway a bit later I went to collect dd and she said quite excitedly "guess what george and I did today? we kissed!" So obviously I was right there so made a mental note to tell her nexct time we speak

how much info does your teen offer? and what is TMI

what age is she,

binkleandflip · 23/06/2007 22:56

How would you know how much they told you though? In that if they were giving the full story about something?

RedTartanLass · 23/06/2007 22:57

My 17 year old told me when he lost his virginity. I mean not right away "Hey mum guess what I did tonight!!!", but a couple of weeks later when we were having a close chat. He's in is 20s now.

Now for all you with babies, tots and young kids, now that is a milestone. Worse than their first day at school!!

To be truthful Jampot I wouldn't mention it to your friend. It's between you and your daughter, and what if your friend mentioned it next time she met your daughter?

How old is she BTW?

southeastastra · 23/06/2007 22:58

he doesn't tell me anything. and his voice is breaking , he was such a wee sweet thing

RedTartanLass · 23/06/2007 22:59

SEA his voice is breaking at 5, good greif no more Dr Who for him!!

southeastastra · 23/06/2007 23:02

gawd no my other son! he's 13 hahahhha

Loshad · 23/06/2007 23:03

mine offers way too much info really, tells me everything which is mostly really sweet, but i really don't want to know that he hasn't had a wa*k for 2 days when he (apparently) normally has several a day.

jandeb · 23/06/2007 23:14

My DD tells me everything or has done for years, then something changed!!!!
I knew she was up to no good and i could tell she was lying, because we had such a close relationship before, so what Im trying to say is even if it is not what you want to hear we as mothers must listen and bite that tonge till you cant bite any longer

noddyholder · 23/06/2007 23:26

He tells me most things and the rest I 'find out'

jampot · 24/06/2007 01:10

she's 14. I told her about my convo with pal and she laughed - she's very cool about things. She would most likely tell her herself to be honest. I wish I was like her at 14

I think that teenagers don't tell everything. They tell you what they think is acceptable for you to hear.

runkid · 24/06/2007 11:15

My dd tells me everything sometimes its things i dont want to know. [i dont need the intimate details]

mumeeee · 24/06/2007 15:45

DD1 now 20 always told me everything, DD2 17 hardly tells me anything but will sometimes want to have a long chat about things. DD3 15 tells me most things.

fortyplus · 26/06/2007 09:56

ds1 age 13 tells me everything - usually about a week after it happens and starts by asking a hypothetical question.

ds2 nearly 12 plays his cards much closer to his chest.

Beelliesebub · 26/06/2007 13:27

Ds1(20) tells me everything, even if it makes me go ewwwwww! Ds2(18) tells me mostly everything, when I can pin him down longer than 30 seconds. Ds3(15) is at that "I'm going to send you to live in another house, far, far away from me for your own safety" stage.........lol, and ds4(14) tells me most things but I can never understand him because he mumbles all the time.......

ktmoomoo · 26/06/2007 13:33

ds 13 not tell me much at all

4mum · 27/08/2007 17:45

son (15) talks alot
daughter(13) not much.

son and i have similar sense of humour.

wish daughter would talk more but dont like to push too much.
