Hi all. Just after some advice /reassurance.
My dd is 13 and has said she thinks people dont like her/think she's weird/judge her.
Is this normal???
I remember feeling like this but I had anxiety and depression so I'm worried that she is going the same way but also know it might be normal teenage girl angst or hormones.
She's really shy but very caring and kind with a few close friends. There's no evidence of any bullying and she says noone bullying her. She's at a high achieving school and is able but not "top" but works hard.
Is this normal or should I be worried?
Thank you!

I would keep an eye on it. It could be either and its impossible to know for sure from your post. See if you can find ways to boost her self esteem so she is more resillient when dealing with other people judging her (this is unfortunately a common occurrence). If things don't improve, have a quiet word with her form tutor.

Thanks for your reply. It's the first time she's mentioned it, so I'm going to keep an eye on her. She says noone has ever "judged" her that she's aware of, but worries they are doing it secretly.
I'm hoping it's just normal teen self consciousness, but will keep close eye.
School have an excellent pastoral care reputation so that's a weight of my mind if it does get worse.
Thanks again.
