My DD who recently turned 16 told me yesterday she wants to live with her dad full time. She's been living half and half since we split up when she was 6. I understand her reasons, less people at her dad's but they're home more often (she doesn't really like to be home alone) closer to school, bigger room. I can't help but feel upset by her choice. I always drive her to school or someone else does, although I do finish work late I make sure to spend plenty of time with her and i get home as soon as i can and her room is a decent size. I just feel like what I'm doing for her isn't enough although I'm trying my best

This must hurt but you have to let her go, if you try and stop her it could damage your relationship. Think of it this way she’d be leaving in a couple of years anyway.

My 16YO DD has also just done this. It's horrible and heart breaking but also for the best. You have to let them fly their own path and make some choices, even if it's not what you'd choose. A bit of space from each other will help you appreciate each other more and she gets the chance to miss you. Let go for now, when you see her next be happy to see her and enjoy the space you have to be yourself and do your own thing. You spend a long time raising them, and then even longer worrying if you raised them right. Your hard work will show later when you have a good relationship with your awesome DD and it will come because you let her follow the path she chose xx

The best thing you could do is let her go. Make a big deal for her and make sure she knows you are ok with it.she will visit you for sure!! More often than you think 😊
