DD14 and anxiety - I had no idea

I feel shocked! Have just had a phone call from school saying that my daughter has been to see student support because she is suffering from anxiety, and finding it particularly difficult in one or two of her lessons. I am shocked, I had no idea. I've always thought of DD14 as a happy, resilient child. Have seen no change in her behaviour at home, apart from the odd teenage sulk now and again. She has a good group of friends, stable home. I cant believe I missed this. When she came home from school I tried to talk to her about it, but she said she didn't want to. That she had other people she could talk to. Which is great, but I am hurt that she doesn't feel she can discuss it with me. I always thought we got on, as mother and daughter. I want to help her, but dont know what to do?

It must be hard that she doesn’t want to talk to you about it. I’d try to let her know that you’re always there for her if she does want to talk, and you’ll listen. At the moment though, I think that’s all you can do.

This book might help you to cope with this too Thanks
