I need to buy a winter coat for my DD12, she's just started high school and I don't want to get this too badly wrong, she's already quite shy and geeky. I'd like to try and help her feel a bit fashionable as this is a daunting enough time for her.
What are your teens wearing?
Any advice? Should I also post in S&B?
Thank you in advance.

The kids at my dd's school wear coats too (and did when her older sister was there as well). Superdry or parkas seem to be always acceptable.

DD carries an umbrella.

My 15 DS has various coats all of which he doesn't wear.

He seems quite happy walking 2 miles in a shirt, blazer and occasional hoodie. Who am I to question his intellect?

Topshop puffa with furry hood Smile

My daughter has a padded puffer with furry Good from urban outfitters... she had it last year and still seems good got this year. Washes ok.

All the girls wear coats at my dd's school, no blazers though. Last year DD1 had a khaki puffy with furry hood from Top Shop and most of the girls had some variation of that. I got both of them light Weight puffas from Primark yesterday, they are great only £15, loads of different colours and will see them through till the really cold weather arrives.

Thigh length khaki parka with hood from New Look. We don't have battles about coats, DD has a long walk (plus a locker to put it in). Her friends all wear coats.

My daughter has just gone into year 10 so 14 and she is quite confident about what she will and won’t wear. She chose a Nike black light weight jacket. Last winter was a supply and demand camo coat and before that an Ellese puffa. Defiantly give her a few weeks and she’ll probably know what style she wants.

My dd walks to school (5 minutes) and will only wear a coat if it’s really raining hard. She has a lightweight waterproof thing she can shove in her bag. The school site is small so no need for one while she’s there and nowhere to keep it so portability is key

2 in one waterproof with puffa jacket zip in inner rather than fleece. Usually wears the puffa bit only but if raining hard will wear waterproof bit instead. Both fold up small so fit in bag. Have to wear black/blue or grey with no big logos. Has a bright coloured puffa jacket for out of school.
