GCSE GRADING HELP - combined Science Mark of 43

Can anyone help me please.

My son got 43 for his Combined Science Trilogy Foundation tier and we don't know if it's a pass or not?

Can't find any definitive answers online!

Is it combines science a grade 4 for one of them and a grade 3 for the other?

My daughter got the same mark as your son and I can't seem to find the answer either?

schoolsweek.co.uk/ofqual-lowers-pass-grade-for-higher-tier-science/
"Ofqual had originally set a “safety net” of a grade 4-3 in higher tier science, to scoop up the pupils who fell just slightly below the pass rate of 4-4 but did not deserve an ‘unclassified’ result."

This suggests that it isn't a pass.

Thank you for your help. My DS took foundation level combined science so that mark is a grade 4 for one paper and a 3 for the other. So one out of two passed apparently.

No, that’s not how it works. You don’t get two separate grades, you get an average (you can’t get a 6-4) of the two grades, so a 4-3 is the grade between a 4 and 3.
