Murder Mystery Party for 12 year old girl

Planning on doing a Murder Mystery party for DD who will be 12. There will be 12 guests altogether. Has anyone here ever done one, and if so how did it go?

My DD had one when she was 13. We bought Paul Lamond Games Death by Chocolate. It has a DVD, scripts for the characters and invitations telling everyone what their character is. We decorated the house in the theme.

They all came in fancy dress, did it over a party meal and loved it. Some of the script was a little bit grown up for them but the DVD helped with lots of clues and it went really well.

There are other games out there designed for teens. I'd really recommend it - in fact it started a bit of a murder mystery trend and several friends did it after her.

Thank you for your suggestions, not a Harry Potter fan unfortunately! Have downloaded a Garden Party Murder Mystery game, says it's suitable for 13 yrs. However, there's no script so I'm not sure how the quieter friends will like it, DD had fun allocating the characters to her friends though. We'll see how it goes!
