Why are they so horrid to each other

Ds’s friend (one of his best friends) has suddenly turned into a complete arse. I know I only know what’s going on from ds telling me things but the friend is posting horrid comments on ds’s insta and sending shitty messages on the Xbox (both of which I can see) and I can’t see that ds has sent anything to him.

My DS has had similar from his so-called bf recently (I only knew from him) - I felt dreadful for him but he stood up for himself, and others from the group were not impressed with the other boy’s actions and now ds has got much friendlier with another boy from the group (who ismuch nicer!!) and the ‘mean’ boy has had his comeuppance as they’re not that interested in him anymore. Now DS is saying that it’s ok with mean boy now, but the friendship will never be the same again for him as he’d never trust him not to revert to mean mode.

Most of them aren't horrid to each other. Most of them are great. Some of them are little shites. Best way is to not engage with them and feed the nastiness.

I have no idea. I agree though not all of them are horrible to each other. The less secure ones seem to be the nastiest. DD is really kind and always has been. She is also the one who gets shunned socially and bullied the most. Year 7 was awful for this. Year 8 wasn't great but in this last term is getting better.
