14 yo ds asked to go fishing with his friend after school this evening and to camp overnight.

We have what one could loosly describe as a tent - it looks like a 2 man tent except it was only £6 and we usually use it as a wind breaker when we picnic on the lawns near the beach..i digress.

He appears in a t-shirt. I ask him to wear a jumper and a coat.

"tut" stomp

i tell him it is going to rain. the tent isn't waterproof.

"yeah it is"

I get all the fishing gear in car, make sure i can contact him. Tell him i will appear unnanounced at any point this evening etc etc
pick up friend load his gear.
take to fishing lake around 5.30

Phone call 9,30pm. " mum can you pick me up i'm freezing and wet, i can't feel my toes and the tent leaks."

" yes dear"

pmsl oh we live for those moments

DS was making a smoothie, ice cream milk tons of fruit all in one little jug ready with the hand pulse blender
I said "oh you need a bigger jug it will go everywhere"
he said in a teen withering tone
I've done it before mother

He presses pulse, on cue it goes everywhere
I smile and say
I know you've made it before, that's how I know it goes everywhere dear
