14 year old DS slow growth

My Ds has always been short for his age, with small feet too. The rest of the family are fairly tall. He's fed up of people telling him he'll have a growth spurt because it doesn't seem to have happened. No sign of puberty and he is 5ft, at just 14. I wonder if I should be seeking any medical advice about this, or is it within normal bounds? He's healthy and happy apart from being fed up of being the short one. Any advice/experience of slow growth in teen boys?

I'm 5ft7 and dh is 6ft3, so that's one reason I've been a bit worried. My DD who's 17 is 5ft8/9 so it's always very obvious ds is 'the short one' and he hates it.

I'm going to very tentatively raise the subject of going to the go, but I'm reluctant because he is so very sensitive about it.

It's heartening to hear these stories of boys suddenly growing later than expected, though.

He won't always be the short one. He's just a late bloomer.

From my older DS I know the growth spurts only start once the puberty hormones (testosterone!) kick in. So it just looks like he is one of the many , "later" developers

What age did your DH start puberty?
