Teen DS mugged - what a sad world

I'm feeling depressed that on Friday night my 15 year old son was mugged leaving a party, held up at knife point and had his bag stolen. He was leaving with two friends and then as they tried to run away was deliberately tripped up and fell - though he managed to get away with cuts and bruises as he was helped by another passing group of kids.

He didn't have much of value stolen but was very shaken up and in shock afterwards - though he has seemed fine over the weekend since then and went out with a bunch of his friends sledging and snowballing today.

We have reported it to the police and school as the gang are known in the area. These horrible boys were in masks and had obviously lain in wait for the kids leaving the party - I think they stole from quite a few of the kids as they left.

Sad and disgusted and feeling tired (I think emotionally and physically as I was too wired to sleep on Friday night and didn't sleep too well last night either). Not really looking for advice just wanted to share.

This is horrible, OP, your poor son. I'm glad at least to hear that he has had fun in the snow today. I hope the culprits are brought to justice.

Yep all the muggings and street crimes and every other type of crime result in a sad story for someone somewhere.

I hope he will recover soon.

Mine’s been mugged three times, once at knife point. Unfortunately it’s where we live and street crime is rife. I kick myself for not moving earlier.

Very sad for your son. We live in a shit world which we have to share with scumbags.

I'm sure someone will be along to tell you it's not the gang's fault though.

Thank you for your kind comments, DS seems fine. I've since found that other kids were much worse affected after my DS left - one ended up in hospital. Very nasty.

How upsetting for your son and his friends Sad

You must be so angry on his behalf. I know how I would feel murderous if that happened to my "little boy" who is also 15.

The only good thing out of the whole episode it that your son and friends were helped by another passing group of kids There are so many lovely teenagers out there but unfortunately we usually only get to hear about the horrible ones.

Flowers for you.
