Make up on the carpet...how many more times!!

14 yr old, always spills foundation or something similar on her carpet. She loses lids isn’t bothered about the mess and doesn’t attempt to clean it up. We have spoken to her so many times but it goes in 1 ear and out the other.

Short of banning makeup what other solutions are there?

She burnt her light coloured carpet with the hair straighteners recently just to add to the array of stains!!

Is it always in the same spot -near a mirror for example? If so get a washable rug.

No not in the same spot, by the mirror, under her desk, on the rug..it drives me batshit!

Ihate im waiting for that though she has a heat mat..not that that means anything!

I was like this as a teen. My mum and dad ended up replacing carpet with laminate flooring for a few years until I had gobe through the dropping make up/ straighteners stage.

Get a quote for carpet cleaning, stop her pocket money until it's paid for. That may teach her quickly

Leave it. Let her live with wrecked carpet in her room until she leaves home.

Stupid teens can start fires with straighteners. If she is continually this gormless, don't let her have them.

Dr Beckmans stain removing spray is a miracle worker. Its only in a small can. Its the only thing I have found that works.

Another one with a carpet wecker here. What makes me laugh is she is always says how her friends have beautiful bedrooms yet she also has(had) a beautiful room that she now leaves like a tip and has left makeup stains on the surfaces, bed covers and carpet.

Dh says he’s telling her no make up in the bedroom..not sure how he’ll police that. We’re moving into a lovely new house soon and I’m trying to get her to have some respect for spaces, things etc. Not working

If she has to pay for a carpet cleaner she may soon learn!

I would tell her to keep her make up in the bathroom when you move house that is what i did witn dd2 when we moved her new carpet was lilac and the last carpet was ruined with make up.

Never managed to stop mine doing this when they lived here. I’ve got keys to their places and I’m tempted to pop round and burn their lovely pristine carpets with straighteners one day. They keep their homes spotless.

I got dd to pack up her foundations and powders into a plastic box and it lived in the bathroom qshe got to keep the rest in her room.

I remember two weeks before we where due to love house I sprayed fake tan all over me not thinking anything of it... of course I sprayed it on me in my bedroom with cream carpet... couple of hours later and my carpet was bright orange and this was at the age of 20/21. A mum. I had a beautiful flat and I still got stains on the carpet!! Unfortunately you don't have respect for things until there your own and you paid for them and you have the clear the mess up! Xxx

God i spilled a box of face powder on a cream carpet and i tried to clean it with nail varnish remover pads I shoved a bin on it hoping my mum wouldn't notice what an arse I was at 14

And I sprayed black permanent hairdye all over the bathroom wall

As a PP suggests try a rug

And ask her to sit and do her makeup in one place

I bought a thin washable mat then took the mirror off the wall and put it on the floor on the mat so she sits there and does it now. All her makeup is in boxe's on the floor. I just wash the mat now and again, seems to be working

Don't put carpet down in her new room. I painted dds floor with floor paint as she ruined her carpet too.

Clean carpet. Tell her every time she makes a mess you will confiscate it for a week.
