What time does your young teen have to be in on an evening please?
I've been told 8.30pm on a school night is too early. Just wanting to compare please
Thanks in advance!

In from where?
Some activities finish late such as scouts and athletics. They wouldn't be out unaccompanied though, unless pre-arranged at a friend's house and not at 8.30pm on a school night unless a special occasion.

It's just in from being out with his mates on nights that are activity free.

if they went out after school on a weekday I would expect them to be home by about 7 to give time for homework. (Later in the case of organised activities, but they get a lift from us or friend's parents).
on school holidays/weekends, if they were out in the evening and not staying over at friends house, we would generally collect and there would be no particular time. I dont think they have come home on their own from anywhere later than about 7 or so, but specific curfew has not really come up - if they asked to stay out to 10, for example, we would say yes but arrange to collect (and if we could not collect for any reason would probably try to arrange for them to stay over or get a lift from someone).
Most of their friends are not within a short walk, which no doubt has an impact.

I'm a bad mum!!! My ds1 is picked up at 5:30 at the weekend. This is so I can enjoy my evening, have dinner together etc. He stays out later most week nights due to activities ( swimming, taekowndo, army cadets and scouts). I pick him up from these activities.

Last week it was 9, but it's getting darker so will probably be 8:30 next week unless he is at someone's house then I'll pick up at 9-9:30

Doesn't have one as doesn't go out on a school night and he'll either go to friends at weekends or a party which has a specific pick up time.
No activities at the moment.

If it's not an activity or he's not at someone's house with me collecting him, the curfew coincides with when it's getting dark, so around 7.45pm now. I don't particularly like teenagers "hanging around" after dark. Either be somewhere, or be home!

If he's out in the street where I can see him it's about 8pm because it's going dark then.
Otherwise I'd expect him back by 6.30 (no difference between school or non school nights)
Activities I go to collect him.

I wouldn't ever have let mine 'just hang around' on street corners/park or anywhere else. Evenings they did activities, were at a named friend's house (occasionally) or at home or school doing prep.
