Teen boys - where do you get school shoes?

I want him to have something comfortable as he will be in them all day. I'm a bit clueless where to shop for them though. The school won't allow any shoes with a brand name on show. Where does everyone else shop?

Mine wear Kickers like these:

www.amazon.co.uk/Kickers-Vintner-Lace-Oxford-Black/dp/B01DBU7QJI/ref=sr_1_8?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1502567020&sr=1-8&nodeID=1769738031&psd=1&keywords=kickers+mens&tag=mumsnetforum-21

I generally buy on-line if I spot a bargain. Our school isn't overly strict though.

I've also had good deals from here:

Mine get away with plain black trainers, I insist on leather for the winter.

They seem to outgrow them quicker than I can earn the pennies for the next pair though... Hmm
We frequent SportsDirect and TKMaxx (I was got a brilliant pair of black Ralph Lauren shoes there) and various online retailers.

Again, our school is not overly strict, so a bit of a white sole peaking out is allowed.

Pacific My two haven't gone up a shoe size since they were about 13 (thankfully because they take an 11!) and are now 17 and 16. Their feet definitely stop growing before they do. :)

PacificDogwod · 12/08/2017 20:56

Well, I live in hope (13 and 14 here, with 2 younger ones to follow them in due course... what were we thinking?)

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/08/2017 21:01

Hmm, you weren't thinking, you were acting....:o DSs are now 6'3 and nearly 6'2 so have increased in height but feet have stayed the same. DH is a 12 and i'm a teeny wee 6 despite being 5'10.

DS has had black leather converse for the past few years and loves them

GetMeOut · 12/08/2017 21:50

TK Maxx here as well.

Ds wore brogues from Matalan through most of secondary school. Polishable, reasonably sturdy but not chunky and cheap.

GeorgeTheHamster · 13/08/2017 08:52

Next, but don't expect to get more than a year out of them

Marks and Spencer - DS is at the difficult size 7 moment and I have found it very difficult to find plain black boy's shoes for him, but M&S have quite a few different styles in this size.

CaptainCanary · 13/08/2017 10:29

DS1 has solid black Vans, weren't sure if they'd be allowed or be considered trainers but no one has ever said anything. His trousers cover the grey at the back.

These ones

Doctor Martins the only shoes that would survive expensive at first but worth it in the long run.
