I'm sick of my teen right now. No matter what we do or what we say about the state of their room, their school uniform and laptop being thrown around, their musical instrument being left on their bedroom floor under clothes to be stood on...no matter what punishment we impart it just isn't going in!!!

It's driving me mad.

I'm desperate for tips on how to manage my disrespectful oik please

Warn them that anything left on the floor will be put in a bin bag in the garage and they will get it back when they learn more respect. Include technology etc.

Yeah, we've locked up skateboards, BMXs, phones etc before now. Not just for a day but for as long as it takes. Took a month once but we got there 😳

I would take their technology and musical instruments and put them in the hall cupboard and tell them they can only use them in the living room/kitchen table

I would let them feel their own consequences for school uniform/state of their room - if they get into trouble their problem

I had a VERY short list of shit I cared about and not replacing expensive kit was one of them. If it's their technology then I wouldn't care. If it was a laptop they needed to do homework on it had to be safe in a public room (or returned there after using). If I had to go and fetch it then I docked their allowance - all technology had to be out of their bedrooms by 9pm.
