Boy between childrenswear and menswear sizes

So- where do you go for nice boxer shorts for a boy who is growing out of the John Lewis age 14, but is yet to grow into the John Lewis small menswear?

Does anywhere do extra small mrenswear? Marks seems to think all men want to wear tight "trunks" but some boys like nice straightforward boxers! We have found that the extra small in Gap menswear works for normal clothing, but sadly no underwear there..

Primark are pretty good for XS stuff, but not sure about boxers as DS likes trunks.

Asos - I have a skinny/lanky teenager and they do xs boxers (and possibly xxs) and they fit perfectly!

Try tkmaxx for branded small and xs sizes. My ds 12 was delighted with his ben shermans (kudos at school) and they wash and wash

Thank you. I'm having trouble finding boxers- I actually bought some Ben Shermans but they are clearly skin-tight trunks.

What I am after is jersey-fabric boxers. Available everywhere in kids, and from a small in adults John Lewis, but nothing in between...!

I feel your pain op, we're going through the same with my 13 year old. None of the boys ranges fit any more (apart from H&M 14+) and very few places do extra small men's. And he isn't a man, he's a boy! Its ridiculous that boys clothes stop at this age.

We've found bits and bobs in primark and River island. Hollister have good t shirts. Sports clothes from JD and places are easy to find. Can't help with the boxers though, sorry.

We got Calvins from Amazon for DS. Expensive but he loves them. Small fits him. He's skinny

He's wearing age 14 now (he's 12). He's a broad rugby-playing build.

:) Sizes can be so inconsistent though so if you have access to actual shops rather than having to order on-line, it's worth having a look/measure. My two grew out of children's sizes very young too and often the adult size doesn't always fit well as it's the right size but the wrong shape, if that makes sense?

If it's any help, my DS2 who is nearly 16 is around 6'1 and broad built and wears an adult XL in t-shirts, a M or L in shorts, his school trousers are a 36 waist he has trunks from H&M in XL yet his similar style ones from Next are age 15 to 16...and he only just grew out of age 13-14 H&M shorts he had. DS1 is 6'3 age 17 but a slimmer frame still needs XL shirts can get away with S to M shorts, has L trunks from H&M and yet still has age 13 to 14 pants he wears - I swear those must have no elastic in them by now but he wont part with them. His school trousers are a 34W/34L.

He may not need an XS. DS1 is 13 and wears boys' 16 or men's S - and some of that is snug on him. He had about 3 XS items before he outgrew them (in the space of 2 weeks).

He needs M from fatface, now and some plain Mens sweatshirts from M&S that he wore for school were soon outgrown in an S. He has massive shoulders and wide hips (his dad only has a 34" chest, but often wears L, so it fits his shoulders and it's not like he works out or anything!)

I guess when you think about it, there has to be a crossover. It's not like all adult men are bigger than boys/teenagers.

DSs have been bigger than small men since they were in primary school - as in, actually bigger than their male teacher!

Obviously he, as a fully grown adult man is going to buy Small or XSmall men's clothes rather than age 13 to 14 or whatever child size would fit. It's therefore not a natural progression from age 14 child to XS man size, if that makes sense? A next age 15/16 item will be bigger than a Xs or S man's size probably. Check out the size charts maybe?

Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but I have a 12 year old who has outgrown next boys 15/16 and I’m not sure where to go to buy the best replacement pants. He’s not ultra tall and a fairly average size physique. Does anyone know which shops carry the best mens xs or s trunks?

(preferably not designer, sorry DS no Calvin Kleins whilst I’m paying 😊)
