To be worried about my 18 year old sister

I'm 23 and my step-sister is 18. She's about to leave for university and she's just confided in me that she met a man on a recent trip to Amsterdam who is 28.

I am very worried. She very obviously looks 18 or younger even so he would have known before he asked her how old she was.

Apparanlty he is a 'photographer' who is quite well known in his field and travels constantly. Sounds a load of shit (pardon my language) to me but I suppose it could be true.

She is going to London soon to start uni and has decided to invite him to stay!!! In her halls. She barely knows him. Her mum doesn't seem to fussed...

I don't think I set a good example as when I was 17 I went out with a man 11 years my senior but he was very emotionally immature and still lived with his parents even so hardly concerning.

What should I do!? I don't want to push her away but I would feel awful if she was hurt by this. She's very naive- or it could be harmless.

She is lucky to have you to be concerned for her. I think just try and tell her what you have said above - she may be making a mistake but at least she will know you care.

Make her keep you informed when he is there. And make a code she can give you if she is ever in trouble.

Tell her to check her tenancy agreement - some halls won't allow extra people staying.

Echoing PPs - she's lucky to have you looking out for her. If she's not moved to uni yet, she might find that in the whirlwind of freshers etc. she'll find someone closer to her own age, or will just be so busy with friends and studying that she'll forget all about him.

If she does still have him to stay, hopefully she'll have friends in halls by then who can be made aware that he's around. I like the idea of having a code for any trouble.
