I hope she is not pregnant.

DS (17) is away for a few days with his gf (19), coming home tomorrow. I have just seen her new whatsapp status - a baby's face. Shock I just hope she isn't pregnant. Why would you have a picture of a baby as your status? Please give me other plausible reasons to stop me worrying!

A relative of hers may have just announced their pregnant and she's going to be an aunt or have a new cousin?

Or it could have been done as a 'joke'. Lots of people do things like that to each others phones.

Status was changed at the end of April (I don't look at other people's status often). There has been no mention of pregnancies in the family.
When ds gets home tomorrow, there will be a very direct, no-nonsense question!

Don't ask him it will put him off coming to you in future as it will look like your snooping. If she was I'm sure you would have been told by now. Maybe she just hasn't mentioned it to you that someone she knows is pregnant I don't see why she would.

If she'd found out about a pregnancy in April you'd probably know by now, especially with social media the way it is. Try not to worry.

Does it really look like snooping? I have occasional whatsapp contact with her and the status can be seen by anyone you have contact with.

If it makes you feel any better have a look on her Facebook(I know it's snooping but it's better than asking your ds as it will look ridiculous).

By status do you just mean a profile picture? Can't you link Whatsapp to your facebook account if you like, so it uses the same profile picture against your name?

You can have whatsapp statuses. Most people do. If you look at your lust of contacts it's underneath the names

Most statuses are the default 'hey! I'm using what'sapp!' But you can change it to other default ones like in a meeting or whatever, or you can make up your own one.

Your status is visible to all the people who have you in their contact list. There is no snooping involved at all. If you go on your contact list - sorted alphabetically so people use it to find a name quite often - the names of your contacts are there with the status underneath. Nothing private about it and no intrusion of privacy involved in looking at it.
