Predicted all A* at GCSE,yet back in the real world.....

So I'm driving ds2 and ds3 ,age 15 and 6 to school.a whiffy smell drifts over...I wisper to the teen ,"is that a clean shirt you have on"...teen "ugh"...me "did u shower today" teen "ugh", me "ok maybe you need a tad more deorderant ".."do u have some in yr bag" teen, "ugh"....me "I'd put a bit more on if I were you" teen " ok"......so he rummages through his bag, gets out the deorderant and SPRAYS IT ON TOP OF HIS SHIRT, but under his arms...me "what you doing" teen "what you told me to".... Me " it won't work through yr clothes,it has to be on yr skin to work,you do know this don't you,".......apparently not....but he learnt something new today....and the school are predicting all A* ....not sure that's going to happen...next week he is away to Spain on a footy holiday...thank god we had our little chat today...now he knows how to use deorderant I can set him free in to the world.....dear god how did I miss explaining that to him.....

Haha - very funny - classic

We have a top loading washing machine - we've had it for 6 years. Yesterday we caught DS (20) putting the laundry detergent where the softener goes.

He's been doing this for the past 6 years - which explains why his clothes NEVER smell clean when he washes them.

It has become clear that my daughter, 11, reasonably clever, passed 11+ doesn't know how it wash her face, I never taught her.
I thought it was self explanatory but apparently not.

On the day of his university graduation my BIL was presented with a bunch of tulips and it later became clear that he had no idea what type of flowers they were.

Not so bad you might think but considering he is Dutch..........

My lovely DS was about 13 when he was in the kitchen doing himself a Pot Noodle (so shoot me lol!). His sister noticed him using hot water from the tap, not the kettle. Apparently he didn't want it to be too hot! Where did I go wrong??
Can I just say that at 18 he now hates Pot Noodles and I've actually got him eating salad! And yes yes to the lack of washing/deodorant etc...
He smells like the men's perfume counter in Boots these days...how times change

My two are tinies but no doubt this will be my life in 10 years time.

My DD is also predicted As and A*s.

However, we were recently driving home from through south London, past a park, when she screeched "OMG I swear I just saw a kangaroo" .

Just doesn't add up does it!

It seems to me - well in my DS's case anyway - that the more intelligent they are then the least amount of common sense they have. It's certainly an eye opener!

Nice to know I'm not alone...I love the one about the roo....bizarrely ds2 was the one I pinned my hopes on for at least one of my kids getting a good job....may have to rethink .....well it's not going to be dd because she's having a gap year to do absolutely nothing except sleep...her words..because me just being a mum,I have no idea how hard ALevels are.....( I have a degree).....if she needs a year to sleep after ALevels God help her if she ever has a kid......

Conversation With DS when he was home from University.

DS: When are we away over New Year?
Me: we go on the 28th for 4 nights
DS: So we get home on the 32nd then?

One of my favourites with DD1 when she was about 14 and was disappointed in her "Maths challenge' results:
DD - I only got 'x' and you needed 'y' to get a medal
ME - Is that percentage?
DD - NO, it was out of 100

She did go on to do quite well in A Level maths, and is now at Uni (not studying maths)

Driving my son and his mates to paint balling a few months ago.
Passing a field, I said 'oh look at the sweet little foal'
Teenager in the back 'what is a foal?'
This teenager is off to Cambridge in September.
