DD friend leaving school - ideas to say goodbye?

Hello, first of all, sorry if this is the wrong place to put this thread in - I'm new and not quite familiar!

DD (17) has just started her last year of school - she's been at a boarding school for almost five years and her year group of 14 girls in her boarding house is really tight-knit, really close. One of the girls has heart problems and will probably need to have an operation in the new year to fix it if she wants to live her life normally. This means that the girl is leaving after Christmas and not coming back to school.

DD and year group are, understandably, sad and shocked about this but they really want to give her a proper send off with a gift - something personal, like a video, or a scrapbook, or something similar. Has anyone done anything like this before or have any ideas? Any ideas/advice would be much appreciated. Smile

That's really hard for them all.

I'd say a scrapbook type thing. Each girl could have a page to put photos, write comments etc, and then a few pages for group photos etc? I've seen teenagers produce some really touching and personal books like this and have always thought I'd love it if someone made something like that for me. Obviously the same could be done with video - personal messages etc. I'd definitely do the book too though.

My friends made me a CD of songs with a personal message from each person. 12 years on I still treasure it.

Photo printing websites allow you to personalize books with dates and messages.

That is hard. Although not the same, a volunteer at my work died unexpectedly recently (though she was mid 60s). We made a book for her family with a page each that had a photo of each of us & what we honestly loved about her, (mine was how she was always telling me off & saying how We should bother be dieting & exercising more :).

Something similar with favourites quotes/lyrics & accompanying cd if appropriate is something that I'm sure would be treasured. Hope they have a good send off :)

Thank you very much for all your suggestions! I was looking around on the internet and found this www.notonthehighstreet.com/coconutgrass/product/personalised-things-we-love-about-our-friend-print maybe that could be a good thing? I don't know
