Teenage boy festival packing list

My 17 year old son is going to his first festival, with just friends and no parents, for the weekend. What would be you words of wisdom on the best thing to pack for a 17 year old boy?

Condoms, paracetamol and loo roll!

As a little bit of a hardened veteran, here's my list:

Clothes:
Wellies
Trainers
Socks (lots of them)
Anorak
Sunglasses
Jumper
Underwear
Trackies for sleeping in
Usual clothes - try to avoid jeans, if they get wet they will never dry

Essentials:
Ticket!
Tent
Sleeping bag
Some sort of pillow - if he's trying to cut down a giant jumper might do - can wear it in the evenings and use it as a pillow at night
Money/ID
Phone - preferably a crappy old Nokia as opposed to a top of the range iPhone
Bin bags - for cleaning up the site, sitting on when it's muddy, waterproofing stuff
Gaffa tape (great for fixing tents)
Torch
Tissues to use for the loo
Hand sanitizer (he probably won't want to take this but I use it all the time when I'm festivaling)
A towel if he is weirdly planning on actually showering (ditto shampoo)
First aid kit - plasters, antiseptic stuff, painkillers - anything more than that and he should go to the first aid tent
Any regular medication
Contraception....
Booze
Food
Possibly a lighter - he may not smoke but he'll be everyone's best friend if they need one!
Hair stuff
Toothpaste & toothbrush
Deoderant
I take a mirror but that's mostly for putting on make up and glitter!
Contact lenses/glasses
Wet wipes - as an alternative to showering
SUNCREAM

I think scribble has it all! I would just add:-
*big fleece (even in july/august it will be cold at night)

• small fleece blanket to tuck into sleeping bag/put around you in the morning.
• an eye mask (much easier to sleep)
• foldable camping chair (sooo nice to sit in at the end of the day)

At 17 under guidance from my festival veteran parents I took sleeping bag and foil blanket, wellies, knickers and socks, a top for each day and a spare pair of bottoms, toothbrush, sun cream, wet wipes, loo roll, make up and mirror, hair stuff, lighter, money, coat, alcohol and alka seltzer. No condoms as was with DH by then and had injection.
Shared a tent with others and I bought or borrowed anything else I needed there.
My friends took all kinds of crap they didn't use and paid the price of having to cart it for miles.

These days my 34 year old mother of four body needs far more home comforts such as cooking stuff, a cafetiere and an inflatable bed that I get DH to carry for me.

I am quite jealous of your son hope he has an amazing time.

I agree that scribble as covered most things but I will just add extra tent pegs are a good idea. I second the idea of a lighter, I don't smoke but can't keep count of the amount of friends I have made at festivals because I have had a lighter when asked . Also wrt loo roll I will let you in on an idea a friend and I had a few years back. At sainsburys pick up some string and thick freezer bags. Hang the freezer bag upside down and make a hole in either side about 1/3 of the way down, re-enforce the hole with gaffa tape. Thread a piece of string through the loo roll, put the loo roll into the freezer bag and then thread the string out of the freezer bag through the holes and tie. This will mean he can hang the loo roll from his neck when he goes to the toilet and it is waterproofed if it starts raining! I hope all of that made sense if not I will try to draw you a picture showing what I mean .
