Prom dresses which hit the floor. Really?

Am I really going to have to fork out a load of money for a long prom dress DD will probably never wear again?

They're all getting excited about the prom. Fair enough. Obviously I want her to feel beautiful if that's what she wants and to have a good time but why LONG DRESSES? At least if we bought a shorter dress there's a chance she'll wear it again.

Have a look on eBay for dresses.

My DH was in the Army and I've been to Summer Balls, Ladies Dinner Nights, Christmas Balls etc - sometimes 4 or 5 a year. It can get expensive buying new everytime and ended up getting some beautiful dresses incredibly cheaply on eBay.

I dont have a teenager but i do remember my prom (eight years ago!) we got mine from debenhams in the sale for £80 it was a shorter dress so i could wear again (well.....i was a size 4 at 16, with all my dancing and gymnastics....now creeping to a 12 so it never did get worn again) BUT i loved spending the day shopping with my mum trying on ridiculous ball gowns in bridal shops and going for a coffee. On the day your daughter will feel a million dollars! Hope she has a wonderful time :)

DD's prom dress was too long, so I took it up (all 3 layers) so that it was just off the floor and so she could show off her new shoes (first high heels). The design has a lace up bodice so she can keep getting more use out of it, and we can get it shortened if she decides she would rather use it as a 'party' dress.
