SON - slim and tall

Horrible stretch marks on his back, he is 14, will they go?

Yes my DS1 (15yo) has stretch marks on his back, he is also slim and tall - 6ft 1 and weighs about 8 stone. He has grown about 6 inches (really) in the last 12 months so that's why he has them.

They won't go but they will fade to faint whitish lines. It will be fine.

my DS got the same at 14 - i thought he'd been flogged when I saw them in the summer the first time. Red welts. I think they're fading abit he's now 17

Yes, they fade eventually.

DS1 is 21 & his have faded now to whitish lines. DS2 didn't get them at all but he isn't as tall and grew steadily rather than having a big growth spurt.

DS3 is 17, very skinny, 6'2" & still growing like a weed, and has a lot of vivid red stretch marks on his back. It bothers him a bit, but I got DS1 to show him his so he knows they will fade in time.

I understand your concern OP because they are a bit shocking if you've never seen them before. I hadn't until DS1 got them and had to google to reassure myself. They seem to appear out of nowhere.

I've had mine since I was a teen and they haven't faded.

My son thought his were great, he showed my mum and told her he'd been mauled by a tiger.

I like mine, too. Never knew anybody thought they were ugly until I read MN.
