DD 16 may be pregnant

Period is 2 weeks late. She has been taking the Pill (POP) but only for about 2 months. She says they have used condoms as well, and the doc said the Pill would mess up her cycle.

I on the other hand am worried to death. I'm going to buy a Clearblue test thing today, is 2 weeks late too soon to test?
I am all over the place and feel like the worst parent in the world. I'm taking solace in the fact that at least we are discussing it reasonably!
Could someone talk some sense into me?

Preparing pot for later. The stress is killing me!

Good luck to you and your dd op

nslw · 02/11/2014 22:08

Any news OP?

itsbetterthanabox · 02/11/2014 22:14

When I started taking the pop pill I didn't have a period for 8 weeks, then I bled lightly for 5 and the a huge gap again. It drastically changes periods much more than the combined pill.
If she has taken it reliably and used condoms it is highly unlikely she is pregnant.

chilephilly · 02/11/2014 22:16

Done. Clear blue says: Not. Are we out of the woods, or is it better r wait a week and test again?
(Not rational, I know) #so relieved

I think you're out of the woods.

DanceToJoyDivision · 02/11/2014 22:19

I would say you're all clear OP. If your DD was pregnant, you should have got an unequivocal positive at 2 weeks late.

You can test again in a week to make extra sure but I'd be astonished is she got a positive result.

Flowers for a stressful day.

DD has just read all your comments. She said "They're all so nice, aren't they?"
Thank you all so much.
She also said " Why are they on Mumsnet so late?" A whole other thread!

What a lovely mum you are and ALSO what an amazing and responsible young woman your DD is. WOW. I hope all her plans come to fruition.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 03/11/2014 00:36

That's great news. Much relief all around I'm sure!

If she is only on the mini pill (why?) then she is going to have to be extra careful about taking it everyday and at the right time etc, it's not at all flexible. She needs to know that many things can interfere with it.

Condoms are a must, 'just seeing what it's like without one' could land her back here.

I think it's also important to let her know that although you have found this very stressful, you are pleased she told you and that if she finds herself in this position again you would want to know and you would be there for her.

I would also use this opportunity to have the conversation about what would happen if she was pregnant. What you would and wouldn't be prepared to do etc. Using contraception is good, using two forms is better, but the only way to 100% not risk pregnancy is abstinence, so if they aren't going to do that they need to be prepared re pregnancy.

That is great news! And great that she feels able to come to youSmile

That's not true at all for Cerazette, which is most likely the pill that she is on. Cerazatte gives you a 12 hour window, one of the biggest on the market.

saintsandpoets · 03/11/2014 11:11

OP, I am on Cerazette. I have no periods. It is very likely that your DD won't have another whilst on a POP, so please do not panic every month.

MrsSpencerReid · 03/11/2014 19:38

Glad it was a negative Grin I've been on cerazette? For 9 months and had 3 days of spotting, no period, so try not to worry too much if she doesn't either

chilephilly · 03/11/2014 19:50

I can't tell you how relieved I am. She is indeed on Cerazette. No periods ever again? How do I get hold of this stuff? I'd buy that Grin

saintsandpoets · 03/11/2014 23:08

I've not had a period, or pms for 10 years! Cerazette is a miracle as far as I'm concerned!

SweetsForMySweet · 03/11/2014 23:18

I'd take her to the doctor to get a blood test done just in case. She should be taking folic acid too just in case. Hopefully, it is just the pill she is on that is causing her periods to stop

saintsandpoets · 04/11/2014 07:57

What a load of crap, she's not pregnant.
