It doesn't sound like pregnancy to me and 2 weeks would be too early to have any symptoms.

I'm on my second round of the implant and my period is seriously messed up, sometimes its regular others it never appears and the length/flow can be erratic too.

Riri17 · 13/07/2014 23:55

Okay thankyou shall i do a test just to be sure?

Do a test for your own peace of mind but maybe leave it a couple of days to be sure it's accurate. You don't need to buy an expensive one- tesco or boots basic ones are fine.

Squtternutbaush · 14/07/2014 00:16

You could always do a test just to make sure but leave it a few more days as it would be too early to detect even if you were.

I used Poundland/Asda/Boots ones and they seem pretty accurate (well they said yes twice and I have 2 children so they can't be that bad :o)

AlpacaLypse · 14/07/2014 00:22

Hi Riri, don't panic!

All of us get weird fluttery feelings occasionally, and all of us sometimes get periods not turning up on time, especially when we've changed contraceptive methods.

Take a supermarket test in a couple of days, I'll be amazed if it doesn't come out negative.

Then book an appointment with whoever prescribed the implant and tell them about the symptoms you've just had and ask advice about whether it's the right solution ongoing for you.

Riri17 · 14/07/2014 10:56

Okay thankyou everyone for your advice, i will do a test in a few day! Smile

AlpacaLypse · 16/07/2014 21:34

How are you doing? xx

Riri17 · 17/07/2014 02:47

Im doing well thankyou, still havent done the test but im off to my clinic Monday morning so hopefully will be finding out id its the big P or N very scary, The fluttering feelings have become more frequent today and startin to get pains almost like period pains! still dont know what to do :/ xx

OP posts:
Pangaea · 17/07/2014 02:48

The fluttering doesn't sound like pregnancy at all. It sounds like acid in the stomach. Have you taken some Rennies?

Riri17 · 17/07/2014 02:52

Really? no i havent to be honest its more of a bubblying than fluttering cant desribe it its strange

OP posts:
AlpacaLypse · 17/07/2014 02:58

Take a deep breath.

Baby kick flutters don't happen for MONTHS!

All this worry may well have given you indigestion Smile

It's possible the implant isn't the best contraception for you. Tell the clinic what you've told us, and take care of yourself.

Use a condom if it's someone new.

Actually use a condom whenever. It's much nicer afterwards not having a sticky cold wet patch which is invariably on your side of the bed.

Pangaea · 17/07/2014 02:59

Really. Try an antacid.

Being stressed out and nervous will delay your period. Pee on a stick ASAP for reassurance!

NoodleOodle · 17/07/2014 12:50

I don't think you are pregnant. Hope you take a test and are reassured soon.

Advice I gave to my DD with an implant was to not advertise the fact that you have one. Of course, you should be in a position where you can be completely honest and open with someone before you get anywhere near the stage of having sex, but I also remember that as a teenager it didn't always happen like that for me. This is why I think you should keep it to yourself and always insist on a condom - if he doesn't know you're protected against pregnancy, he can't do as some people do and use this as a reason to not need to use a condom. And as much as someone can be adamant when they tell you that they don't have any STDs, there is no way to be sure unless they have been tested since their last sexual encounter and even then it would need to have been after a sufficient amount of time for everything to have become detectable.

Use a condom.

You should be able to relax more if you do use a condom too, as you will be better protected against pregnancy and STDs. It is unlikely but not impossible to get pregnant with an implant, ask at the clinic when you go. Also, it is worth you both getting tested even if you are using condoms, as although they are great, even condoms are not 100% effective. Anybody who genuinely cares about you should not have a problem going with you to be tested as a couple, so if your partner is not willing to do this it is worth reconsidering whether you have sex with them at all, condom or not.

Riri17 · 17/07/2014 22:23

Thanks everyone you've all been so helpful i will test for pregnancy and also STDs just to be safe and and also i dont have a partner to make matters worse it was a drunken one night stand so i am worried about stds i was silly and shouldnt of done it but mistakes happen! :( I will let you all know how i get on thanks again for adivce and help its greatly appreciated Smile

It's okay to enjoy sex - don't beat yourself up about it. Just remember condoms next time and don't panic about pregnancy until you take a test. To be feeling that much movement, you would need to have been pregnant before the implant.

Riri17 · 18/07/2014 00:07

Okay thankyou ill try not tobworry and will take a test ASAP because all the stress ive been putting myself through over this is starting to get to me :/

Im feeling very tired and sick today i have been getting a lot of cramping and my bellys bloating a bit it is almost 3 weeks since i had sex and i was thinking.about doing a test tomorrow as each day that goes by i feel.more pregnant it would be very surprising if i was to be pregnant but the most hardest thing would be having to tell my parents and if i am i may ask for advice:)

Chocaholicmonster · 19/07/2014 22:06

It might very well be the implant still settling down (maybe?). Do a test if you feel it'll help settle your mind either way but I'd suggest making a Doctors appointment regardless of what the test result is.

And please, next time use double the protection! :) x

frames · 19/07/2014 22:11

Hi Riri, do your folks know about you implant?

Riri17 · 19/07/2014 22:14

Yeah maybe because ive only had the implant for just over 3 months now but i just feel so strange and ive had all early signs of pregnancy like feeling tired, going to tpilet regulaty even got a lot of gas ehich ivr heard is early signs of pregnancy and yes i will use double protection next ime dont worry i learn from mistakes ibguess.and yeah no matter ehat ill go to the doctors or my clinic x :)

OP posts:
Chocaholicmonster · 19/07/2014 22:16

Try to not look into it too much. The stress you're putting on yourself may be the cause of feeling tired (not sleeping well from worrying) etc - Best go to a medical profession just to be safe though! Best of luck x

Pangaea · 19/07/2014 22:25

Stop putting it off - go and buy a test. There's no point extending the not knowing process.

MagpieMama · 19/07/2014 22:31

I had a pregnancy scare at your age and it was terrifying, I put off doing a test for ages. I think my period was about 3 weeks late by the time I tested and it was negative, got my period a week later. Still got no idea why I missed a period!
As others have said, the implant can mess with your cycles but I'd do a test as soon as you can to put your mind at rest.
