What will your teenagers do in the holidays?

My daughter has a good set of three friends, but as soon as the holidays are here they're either off on long holidays with family or their grandparents' home are their base in other parts while their parents work.

She does like to read, do art, mess around her ipad and will happily go into town, a cheap lunch out or swimming with me. I've suggested she get the mobile numbers of other local girls, but I don't think she likes to ask. I've been looking online and their aren't really any local activities she'd want to do, so just wondering what others will be doing the holidays.

Mine go into town, meet up with friends, go to the beach or up to the stables. Sometimes they will come along with a mixed adults/kids meet-up doing something like a picnic or walk in the woods.

Mornings, however, tend to be mostly spent in bed

My DS is in the same situation his 2 closest friends are away all summer and he just feels too old to join organised summer activities! I am concerned that he will spend too long on the playstation. Its going to be a long summer...

Have done a deal with them where they do 2 weeks of organised activities and the rest of the time they can please themselves. There will be an alarming amount of loafing around watching crap on TV I suspect. A visit to grandparents for a day or two is a good idea. It's the money issue that I worry about, They are on an allowance, and they have to budget for going out and entertaining themselves, but DD2 is quite daft with money, so she won't have enough. But it is better for everyone if she can afford to go out with her friends and not hang around indoors. So I will probably end up handing over more money.

Majestic - mine used to have an allowance and a paper round but I accepted that it was hard for them to make the money last in the holidays so I used to top it up but made it clear there wouldn't be an endless supply of money.
Sometime I am pleased that there is the xbox as it does keep them occupied! I am sure that some people will be horrified but I am being realisitic.

13yo ds will be away with Scouts for a week and on a PGL trip for another(saved child care vouchers for this over the year - and will do thie same next year as he'll still be under 15).

The rest of the time his father and I are taking alternate weeks annual leave. There'll be odd days when ds will be left to his own devices (so in bed much of the morning and on the XBox a the rest of the time )

Work -- babysitting five afternoons a week (DD3) and five mornings a week (DD2). DD4 volunteers in the library and is doing a volleyball camp. We have three months of school holidays to fill here, and DD3 needs money to support herself in university/buy books next academic year.. They find plenty of time for movies, loafing, sleeping, swimming, raiding the fridge, etc.

DD (15) will be meeting up with friends, dragged on a canal holiday , sleep and mess about on her computer.
She's at a grammar and under an immense amount of pressure for GCSEs, so we're letting her go easy
She'll be babysitting and is trying to find a job, but I think the relaxation is improtant

They will be sleeping and spending as much time as possible with friends, apart when we go on our family holiday. DS may go and stay with the PIL for a few days and we may have my goddaughter (who is one of DD's best friends) to come and stay.

It's tricky when their friends are all away at the same time.

Away on a family holiday then ds nearly 13 will do one week rugby camp, going to the gym, swimming, playing football, playing ps3 and meeting up with mates. Plenty of mooching about too!

Going abroad, meeting with friends, going into town, day trips to the beach and cities, sleeping, swimming in the thames, going to the park, watching tv, playing ps3, homework, sleepovers, camping, staying with grandparents, theme parks - pretty much all of these are with their mates as I'm not around in the holidays. But I'd imagine almost every other day will be spent doing fuck all except eating all the food!

This used to happen to us too .we used to arrange to be off work a lot to be around which was not ideal . What age if yr dd ? Some times when teens get older they are in larger groups thus more chance someone e en if a less close friend is around.
We had to sort of alternate a doing going out day with at home days and on the going out days try to tempt other s to come with us even if it was friends of mine with say you get kids it can be fun or ok a d at least you are out? So if no friends of yr dd. at

Maybe friends of yours and their dc? I do sympathise my d. C did t really play together mix as early teens . Hope it works out for you!
