Reassure me I'm not the only one with a 'giant' DS

Just had to send a chest measurement to the rugby team for next years shirts. DS is 14 and measuring 44".
He was only 38 in September when I bought school stuff. I bought big for growing room but didn't think he would grow 6" in 6 months!
Poor boy his school shirts must be killing him. Poor me my pocket is going to hurt as I feel the need to replace most of his tops now

ds is 11. He now wears adult size 9 shoes.

You post is my dread of the next few years!

DS is 15 his hobby is eating he towers over me, and he is fab.

My DS is 9 yrs old, in size 13 yr old clothes, size 7.5 feet. He is a head and a half bigger than others in his year group. He is definitely going to be a giant!

It's a bit mad, I know he is one of the biggest, but I tend to view him with his peers at a distance so doesn't look that much bigger (especially at rugby) but it's the numbers that get me.
Height wise yes I know he is getting tall but as I wear heels of varying sizes it's not so obvious iykwim

yes ds is so much taller than the rest of his class.
Mind you dh and I are tall, and my brothers and Dad are 6'3", 6'4" and 6'5" so it's not surprising really.

I'd be chuffed to nuts if my ds grew that much in 6 months!

Costly, yeah I'm about to realise that. All that I bought with growing room.. Well it's been grown into already!
As for food, I was blaming dp as we have only been together 18months and he is a big guy with a big appetite

Giant child in this house too, surely 6ft2 at 15 is way to tall. He just about fills the doorway. They aren't cheap to keep.x

Same here. DS is 12, 5ft 8 and size 11 shoe. The lady in clarks told me that their feet always grow first then comes the growth spurt. Could be an old wives' tale but it sounds logical to me. Anyway I actually think it's a nice problem to have - better to be tall than short (but that's my opinion)

I have a soon to be giant child in this house. He has just turned 11 (still primary school age) and has size 9 feet. He is 5'4" already and hasn't had his growth spurt yet!

Your DS might not grow much more....

I hope my 15YO DS' feet have stopped growing as he takes a size 11.5 or 12. He is a beanpole with enormous feet.

Both my boys went through a stage where they seemed to grow before my very eyes. It's remarkable albeit very normal

I love the stage where there feet don't match the rest of their bodies.

I have a 6ft 2 15 year old.

And an 11 year old with size 9 feet.

Mine grew upwards but not outwards.
It's true about the feet.
DS1 was in size 11 shoes at primary school and reached 6' tall in year 7. He is 18 now and only grew another 2" in 6 years, his feet are still size 11 thank goodness. Skinny though, he weighs just over 10 stone.
DS2 is 16 and a fraction over 6'2" (this matters when you are taller than your older brother). His feet also remained at size 11.

You need to watch out at the feet growing stage as they can go up a size in a month easily. Don''t replace all their shoes if you can avoid it.

Just to alarm those of you with tall kids even further, my dh grew 4" between the ages of 18 and 21. He was 6'2" when he started Uni and 6'6" when he finished!
I shouldn't be surprised by the size of ds really.

he is only slim though so a 44 chest would be enormous on him width ways!

10 year old ds2 is in size 7.5 shoes and is about 5'"2?

Prepare to pour food into them for the next few years.
Oh and when they bring their giant friends......

DS1 always seems to pick very petite girlfreinds who eat like sparrows. They must be so much cheaper to feed.

Flipping heck, gymboy size 14 feet! Buying shoes must be a nightmare.

it's a nightmare-school shoes had to come from a specialist website and cost me £70!!!!!!!

My (just) 12 year old weighs 4 stone and is a size 4 shoe.

Aww jimjam sweet and teeny - he'll grow won't he ? ( I'm assuming he isn't growth restricted?). DS has a really good friend who didn't grow till 15- he's a year older but DS was taller from about 12 ( still is though the friend is 6 foot now)

DS is 6'2" with a 16.5 collar, which we only found out at Xmas after year maybe of "do your shirt up you scruff bag....."

But despite his rugby players neck the chest size on a conventional, even slim fit shirt is huge???and he isn't small so I dunno who they are sized for!

He's 18 now fits his frame well but from about age 11 was tall with what seemed huge hands!
