Maths exams - anyone else's DC have theirs today?

My DD had hers today and I'm so glad it's over, looking at her yesterday she was so stressed as the prelim for maths was a disaster! Since she's been home from the exam it's like a big weight has been lifted.

Was it a GCSE exam?

DD had a maths exam, but she is in year 9. She came home in tears.

She also had a science exam that she was happy about.

My Ds did Ent 2 maths on Tues, but its a retake so he wasn't too bothered, unlike last weeks drama with higher English!!!

He doesn't have any more till June thank goodness, I don't think I could cope with the stress.

My dd exams begin Monday 23 in total ! I'm not happy though as school isn't giving study leave till mid June and dd will still have at attend school for lessons she has exams still in which means she wil have to be in school full school hours to end of June as there is no other way for her to get into school.
I don't agree with no/little study leave as previous years it has been much earlier dd said once an exam has been finished in a subject they have to attend lessons but instead of revising people are talking and messing around. My dd doesn't revise well in atmosphere and also time travelling to school is wasted plus shed be more proactive at home.

It's National 5 exams my DD is doing, not many too many to go now but she does have work experience to do in her study leave which seems crazy as instead of studying she'll be out the house for 7 hours.

How does your dd know that pupils will mess around in lessons if her exams have not yet started sidsack? We started this system two years ago and our results have rocketed however we do have an opt out clause where parents can request early study leave from the date of the first whole school GCSE ( RE on Monday for us). Most pupils seem to find it a far more effective way of revising plus they have teachers available for help. We find that the atmosphere is positive and productive but speak to your dd's HOY if you think it will be counter productive.
