Anyone else have a fainting teen?

My dnephew has fainted a few times now, at home and at school. Drs can't work out why after blood tests.

Could it be from bad diet/going to sleep late/too much Xbox usage - basically normal teen stuff?

Worried about him.

I used to faint when I was teenager, with no notice, I had lots of tests, and all came back clear, I eventually stopped when I reached 21, Its never happened since. No Xbox etc when I was young, although the usual burning the candle at both ends that you do as a teenager

I have DC of my own now, and they haven't ever had it.

lots of fainting help and advice here. If any of the different types of fainting look possible, you do need to be really really pushy with GPs as IME it's way out of their comfort zone. A referral to a cardiologist would be a good first step (if it's more than just not eating/sleeping properly or down to stress/similar) to rule out heart problems. In the meantime, sensible health advice to eat properly, drink plenty of water and have a regular sleeping routine will help, throw in a good multi-vitamin, and see if that helps.

Unexplained fainting is a horrible thing to see (DD has POTS, and at the moment faints once a week on average which is a lot better than it has been, but is still pretty rubbish)

I was a teenage fainter, I have bloody pressure at the lower end of normal. Being tired/stressed/hungry etc. causes a dip in blood pressure in most people, however with mine being low anyway even a small dip made me faint.

I still faint now but not as much as I have learnt to control it better.

Has he just started secondary school?
I ask as when my dd went from primary where she got up at 8 ate her breakfast 8.30ish and left the house at 8.45
She then went to secondary where she got up had breakfast at 7.30ish and didn't eat anything til lunch at 1pm!
Also has low blood pressure

DS2 (17) went through a fainty phase a few years ago. I had to take him for some jabs before a school trip when he was in year 8 and he fainted - out cold on the floor. He would regularly feel light headed and sometimes faint if he stood up too quickly. He had cardiac tests last year as they were offered to all the young people at his rugby club.

But he grew out of it and hasn't experienced anything similar in the last 2 or 3 years. And he's a super fit sportsman. So I expect it was 'just one of those things'.
