smelly hairy 10 yr old boy

DS has just had sex education video for year 5 - it appears that he is the one with the hairy willy. He has started using deoderant this summer. Should I be concerned that he seems to have started puberty early? Some of the girls have started periods!

no it's normal, did he see that funny video where the woman was chased by a man waving a flower at her

Everyone is different, if he's well ahead of his friends though he's going to be noticably taller etc etc adn more experienced at manly things like shaving... I'd just try and be extra sensitive to him perhaps feeling different or odd, and his mates might well give him a hard time (I've been there, as a girl though obv)

If he finds it a prob, maybe think of some mixed age group activities he'd like? (If he doesn't already) like scouts or something, so he mingles with boys at the same developmental stage as him.

As someone who was (a very long time ago!)smelly, hairy, and having periods at the age of 9, I wouldn't say 10 was anything to be concerned about. He's probably one of the first in his class but as far as I know it's within normal range.

They'll all be catching him up very soon.

My son was the hairy well developed(thankfully not smelly tho lol) one in his class.His dad was shaving at 10/11 and he has had to shave every day from that age too.

The only thing i would say is to expect some mood swings and hormonal outbursts.Because they are maturing faster the teenage strops set in faster i think.I didn't cut my lad (nearly 15) any slack at all and in retrospect i wish i had.

I think boys can feel as hormonal and confused as teenage girls do.His voice breaking at an early age was hard for him cos it was so noticeable,so plenty of hugs etc for him.My younger son is nearly 11 and we are having the same again.

Just back from Hols! It was a very odd video that he saw - sounded as though it was a 'few' years old. The video was followed by a chat about wet dreams which most of the boys claimed they had experienced recently - more due to the hot weather than an actual wet dream methinks! Anyway he is becoming a little bit moody and is worried about getting spots.

I suppose I am just not ready for these changes yet I thought I could rest easy (as if any mum can?) until secondary school.
