DS 14yrs begging text from school...give me strength!!

Text 1 (whilst I am running round food shopping) mum, can you drop my PE kit off at school please?

2 mins later text 2 PLEASE

{angry] Smile I had only asked him twice over the weekend if he needed it, no, categorically no, he has PE (GCSE) theory today, so no kit needed.

Yeah right....it is the LAST TIME I am doing it!! How many chores can I milk this for do you reckon? Wink

I'd not be impressed with him. ocean, leaving PE kit at school in secondary would usually equal no PE kit the next day.

Mind you. I wouldn't take it in anyway! Unless it meant him failing some kind of very important exam! You'd already asked him. He'd said no. 'That'll learn 'im!' Wink

Yes, let him "fail" and he will know not to do it again! If you pick up after him every time he will not see any consequences and has no incentive to make sure he remembers every time and takes responsibility for himself.

My dcs wouldn't even bother asking as they know I wouldn't - if they forget it, they take the consequences.

MadLizzy - my dcs leave their kit in school until it needs to be washed

I would, but I would make it very clear to him that he needs to think these things through, but especially when I have asked him about it.

I wouldn't expect any chores etc, but if he was asked to do something for someone else in the family at a later time and pulled the humfy face, he'd swiftly be reminded!

If DSs left their PE kit at school it would walk home of it's own accord. it would be rank!

I do bail them out if they forget important things because I am in a position to be able to do so easily. The latest was a rugby mouthguard which I threw out of the car window at DS2's feet and said "I own you, sunshine!" His friends thought it was hilarious.

He doesn't have the option to leave it at school and there are no lockers Sad I've told him that I would not be doing it again, he's still ironing out the timetable as to when he has PE theory and PE practice, that was the sticking point.

This is 80% lighthearted by the way, (20% me going insane).

I walked to the school and back and don't worry am milking it for all it's worth, I've already shown him my sore feet......

He has thanked me about 3 times, hugged me and was very apologetic so I can't be too annoyed.

You've got to love teenage boys. DD 11yrs is more clued up. Smile

This has just reminded me that DS hasn't taken his PE kit today!
Luckily he doesn't need it for today, but brought it home y'day as he doesn't have time to go to his locker before catching the bus (PE last lesson).

If mine miss the school bus we have to collect as there's no 'ordinary' bus after 3.45!

Mine lost his planner 4 weeks from the end of Summer term. It was a pain! He's the organised one out of the two as well!

Within ten minutes of me posting above he sent me a text asking what lessons he had!
He also forgot his lunch but would have been able to get it in the canteen as there was money in his lunch account.

Now I understand why DS2's old and new schools (we've moved) both have total bans on phones in school. Any phone seen or heard is immediately confiscated until a parent collects it. I thought this was a bit heavy-handed 'til now - but no begging texts for me! Grin

If its a one off and I can do it easily I will as I'd want someone else to bail me out if they could. I'm v scatty

sicily i have been in you shoes so many times and I always take it in...

I then use the line 'can you just wash those pots please, I didn't get chance as I was busy dropping off your kit'

Or whatever job need doing at the time... I have 2 teenage boys so I feel your pain, and the theory/practical is a pain especially at our school as it sometimes gets changed without much warning!

And to the person who said I wouldn't bother just for a pe kit, GCSE pe is actually quite an important GCSE and certainly worth them trying hard to pass
