I'm trying to make sense of the fares. She has to travel by train, we are in the Oyster card zone but the college is outside it. She is 16 at the end of August. Adult daily fare is £8, child rate £4.

The 16-25 railcard has a £12 minimum fare if used before 10am!!

There is no direct bus service from home to college.
Any ideas for the cheapest way of getting her there without bankrupting us?

Termly season ticket saves money on fares. My LA do a special card for 16-18 year olds which can be used to get further discount off the season ticket as well, might be worth finding out about.

some train providers do a student discount for 16-18 year olds season tickets, I now first capital does maybe its worth checking for that. Im so glad my daughter will be getting the bus and will still have her free travel on her oyster card I believe.
