dd1 turned 13 yesterday. Today she has gone swimming with a friend. When they were making plans I asked if her swimming costume fitted her OK, she told me it did. She has come down stairs in floods of tears because she thinks she is so huge now because it is too tight. the fact that we bought it two years ago when she was doing gymnastics 5 times a week, and the fact that she has had to retire from gym because of a damaged knee all were of no relevance to why she is too fat for it!! She was still red faced and blotchy when she left with friend. Do they just become hormonal and unreasonable overnight, or have they been planning it for the last 12 months so that when they are officially a teen they can change beyond all recognition? Aaaarrrgghh!!

it's because he's a ds and not a dd. Ds - also 14 - is actually a lot easier, and has never (crosses fingers Grin) been a nightmare.

my dd was really great till she hit 16, then rebbelled big time. Now she nearly 19, preg, single and left home (walked out after row with me and dh). She is staying with a friend at the mo till she can sort her self out somewhere to live but comes to see us, usually when she needs money (shes at college).

Also have ds who is nearly 17. He is sensible (most of the time anyway!), builds computers, works at weekends, helps at home, brill with 8month old little sis,is a scout (working for queens scout award)and young leader with cubs so often camping, hiking, climbing mountains etc and still finds time for friends.
