It's a happy eek, and it's not all flowers and violins romance.

She's part of a group of friends and one boy and her have always got on particularly well. Last week he saved her a "Coke" bottle with her name on and then admitted to his friend he's got another one he's keeping :)

He texted her today asking if she wants to go to the cinema a week on Friday after school to see World War Z (it was filmed locally, that's the main reason!), some others "might" be coming.

She's very flattered, knows that she's in for a fair bit of teasing about it. I'd never really thought about an age for doing his, she's in a very small school (there are only about 40 people in her year). I've met him, and his parents, at school events, it's an unusual arrangement as its a 3-18 school and so they've known each other since p2. They're boh now in s1 (=y7) but as the system works differently up here, she's 13.4, he's around the same.

Would you be happy with this? They've gone to cinema/bowling etc in mixed groups before, but this would be the first time on their own.

Aawwwww! How sweet!
I would set the normal rules but then be completely happy with it especially as it sounds like they have just started out!

My 13yr old feels like a freak as she's possibly the only person in her group without a boyfriend. My youngest who's 10 is on her second boyfriend since starting middle school.

Yes Mrs Jay, its tiny - in fact dd1's year is the largest in the secondary at the moment. its a relatively new school and the numbers get bigger each year. Which means for now, I know pretty much everyone!

I am dreading the day 13yo DS gets a girlfriend. I have discovered that the only thing ickier than thinking about your parents' sex life is thinking about your kids' (blech).
