Which sanitary towels does your daughter prefer?

My daughter is 12 and in preparation for her first period, I want to get her a selection of towels to try. I'd be interested to know what others girls like to use (as I use tampons myself).

Also, can I ask what age your daughter was when she started and if she was heavy. I've heard that in general most are fairly light, but I was the opposite and very heavy having to change every hour - don't want that for my daughter straight away so fingers crossed!

Try lilets teen range - these are what we got my DSD (12). She had her first period about 10 weeks ago and wasn't heavy but was very emotional but hasn't had one since.

Her mom was nearly 14 when she had her first and was very heavy also. Fingers crossed that your daughter will have an easier time than you

Go to a large Boots. They stock a lilets starter pack that has a selection of pads and tampons in teenager sizes. DD and I bought on e just after the 'conversation' at school when she was 10. She's 11 and a half now and hasn't shown any signs of starting her period, but she keeps a pad from the pack in her schoolbag just in case.

My daughter is nearly 11 and hasn't started yet, so don't know what she'll prefer. I've got her some Lillets teens to try, as well as Bodyform with and without wings in case she needs extra protection.

Morrisons own pads. padded and comfy. hates the thin things. she's 11 and been having periods for 15 months.

My 12 yo dd has tried all sorts, but has settled on Morrisons own range with wings. She really wants to be able to use tampons for swimming etc, but has tried several sorts and just finds them too uncomfortable.

She started her periods at 11.5.

Another vote for Lillets - although I think Wilkinsons also do/did a smaller/teen pad that one of my DDs used at one point.

Sainbury's 'Basics' or Wilkinsons own basic range have been fine for my dd (14) - can't see the point of paying £££ when you consider what they are used for, and that nobody sees them, etc.

DDs (18, 15 and 12) all use Always (pads and tampons depending on how they're feeling) and I have a range that I leave in the bathroom and they help themselves to as they fluctuate between v heavy/light. All three of my girls started heavily but every month is different for them!

The dd's are 17 and 14. They started off with off with Lillets. They prefer Always pads now and Tampax Pearl. Like being I keep a selection in the bathroom for everyone choice depending on the flow.

They both started at around 11.
