So Where would they enjoy in UK or France/Belgium/Holland Budget is £1000 a week Somewhere I wouldnt have to cook every night
Somewhere they would have freedom.
Not Center Parcs.
Thank you.

No idea about holidays but brilliant news about the scan. :)

confuzzledwierdo · 03/08/2012 00:57

U could always go somewhere like eurocamp, alothough tompsons is better, stay in a flat or caravan home on a site, I'd say tompsons in italy lake garda, should be about right for price, near the lake and lots of returaunts and only a bus ride into town :)

Penneyanne · 03/08/2012 01:30

This www.duinrell.com/ is great for teenagers! Free theme park on campsite and indoor pool is perfect for teens-full of flumes/slides/daring tunnels to slide down etc.

triplets · 03/08/2012 08:28

Just looked and they haven`t got anything left to sleep 5 in Aug :( only after the 31st which is too late for school. We need a week if we are going that far. Thanks anyway.

Jersey - tip them onto St Ouans beach for the surfing! Plenty of other watersports too, if that's their thing.

The island is incredibly safe - it's like stepping back to a gentler version of mainland Britain. And you don't need to fuss about eg changing money. It's non-NHS though so you do need health insurance (but presumably that applies anywhere outside UK?). It's also non-EU, so you can get duty-free.

triplets · 03/08/2012 08:55

Never thought about the Channel Isles, where do you cross from?

OP posts:
confuzzledwierdo · 04/08/2012 00:11

www.thomsonalfresco.co.uk/lakegarda try here, my sister workd there and we went and visited, great lake for watersports, only a 20 min bus ride into town where there's loads of sites like 'romeo and juliets balcony' and 'juliets wall' its fab!! Aswell there's a market and a pool and ice cream bar and loads of resturaunts on site :)

EdithWeston · 04/08/2012 12:09

I think most crossings to the Channels Islands are from Portsmouth, Poole or Weymouth.

triplets brilliant news about DH !

How about somewhere in South Devon ,near Dartmouth or Totnes ?

You might be able to find somewhere available ( thinking holiday rental ) in a small village and use it as a base . Maybe Kingsbridge ? Strete village ?

Totnes is medieval town interesting in itself ,but is bit like a hippie campus - lots of crystal and fairy shops which I think early female teens like .
Lovely market ,Elizabeathan themed once a week .

Dartmouth is great for pottering ,beautiful boat trips up the Dart ,Agatha Christies house at Greenaways ,crab fishing at Dartmouth and Dittisham .

Blackpool sands is a private beach ( if any sun ! ) or Beesands is lovely - miles of beach ,grass football pitch ,toilets ,pub and cafe .
Torcross ,Slapton ?

Trips to Dartmoor ,Buckfastleigh Abbey .
Salcombe for boats .

Good luck ,I find booking holidays really hard ...

gingeroots · 06/08/2012 11:42

Just saw " not cooking every night " ....fish and chips /takewaway ?

triplets · 06/08/2012 23:08

Ginger, you make me laugh with your enthusiasm then say you find booking holidays hard:) I am dithering, trouble is since losing Mum I cant concentrate or settle on anything. One minute I think oh what the hell, stick it all on c/c and lets fly off to Florida, which everybody would love. Then I ask myself how will we pay it off after when we dont have extra cash? Then I think Center Parcs Europe, cheaper than here, then I think of the three kids wedged into the back of our new smaller car and cant bear the thought of the journey! I get so frustrated now with holidays because we used to be able to plan them, I would spend months researching, esp our trips to the USA, best holiday we ever had. Because of the cancer we cant pre book, we live from scan to scan, and we cant get insurance to cover him for it anyway. In the last 4 years its all been last minute breaks, mainly 4 nights. Hopeless aren`t I?

triplets ....my enthusiasm is really familiarity .

I can't book holidays so have been returning to same spot for years !

( funnily enough ,when I did book something it was America. I spent so long researching it I almost felt I'd already been there . Great holiday tho .
Would recommend Reno .And also the Calfornia Zephyr - train from East to West coast www.amtrak.com/california-zephyr-train )

AgentProvocateur · 07/08/2012 08:38

What about a week I'm Edinburgh ? Loads on at the festival. Mine will go through every day for a week and have a ball.

RindersGoesForGold · 07/08/2012 08:52

Triplets, so pleased the scan results were good news.

I was going to recommend Bluestone too - perfect for teenagers as there's a theme park right next door, as well as a pool at the top of the (steep!) hill, sports hall, bike hire, etc.! I just checked and it seems they do have fairly good availability from Monday 27th for a week...would that work for you?

Wrt to travel insurance, check out the links provided by Macmillan. Hopefully you would find a company there to cover you.

So sorry to hear about your Mum. Hope you find somewhere suitable for you to relax and where you can all have a nice time.

RindersGoesForGold · 07/08/2012 08:54

And you are most definitely not hopeless Smile I know that question wasn't directed at me, but thought I would butt in anyway!

triplets · 09/08/2012 08:17

Well for better or worse in sheer desperation I have booked 10 nights away in this country much to ther kids disappointment. Everything was getting booked up or was too expensive. So we are going to Sherwood Forest, lodge with hot tub for a week 24-31st, then from there another lodge 2 hours away in Lincolnshire. Thats the one I feel abit worried about, its Tallington Lakes, lodge looks good as its new but apparenly they are sill building there. Lots of water sports for th kids whichare pricey though. Need somewhere to spend that day the 31st as its only a very short hop between the two. Thought of goin to Burghley House as we have passed it several times on our way north, but guess what? Its closed that w/end for horse trials! Oh well fingers x`d, I have done my best!

Rinders............have spent hours in the past phoning comps re insurance. They say they cover all types of cancer, you spend 10 mins answering all their questions then its declined because its stage 4. One comp did say if he got all clear scans for ovr a year they would then consider. When I asked them for an approx quote on that basis they said approx £2000 to goto Florida for two weeks!!!

OP posts:
gingeroots · 09/08/2012 09:01

Triplets that sounds fab .
A hot tub !

Well done you .

It will be good for the kids to have a day with nothing planned - they can chill out ,read .

Don't forget - take aways .

RindersGoesForGold · 09/08/2012 12:01

Triplets, am so pleased you have booked somewhere! Well done and I am sure you will all have a great holiday.

Sorry about the travel insurance. And more than that, am so sorry about your DH's cancer. It is a shit journey.
