Best treatment for spots/acne

DS aged 14 really suffering at the moment. Have been trying an over the counter cream from the chemist but virtually no difference after two weeks treatment.

Making a GP appointment but would be good to hear if anything has worked for your teen.

When Ds1 started to suffer quite badly we had DUAC. It was fantastic and cleared up his spots really really well. After a year though it seemed to have lost its effect so he went onto an oral antibiotic but I would really recommend DUAC.

Duac is great for 40 something acne!

GD has Duac plus oral antibiotics. Duac worked wonders for the first year but like sugarice's ds it seemed to lose effect after about a year. The antibiotics don't seem to be doing much so it may be time for Roaccutane

DS1 has acne which started when he was 11. We started on Benzyl Peroxide which was effective to a point, then tried topical antibiotics.
Last visit to GP she persuaded DS (and me) that he should try oral antibiotics.DS had resisted them for a long time as he has a phobia of taking tablets (I've posted on another thread about that).
Anyway within a week of starting them his skin was 100 times better.

Thank you so much everyone, it has given me the determination to push for a solution on his behalf. I really don't want to accept it is just 'one of those things' as it is having a massive impact on him.

Benzyl Peroxide plus antibiotics here (Tetrasyl) for two of my teens.

We were unsure if the gP would just tell them they had to live with it, but each time the GPs were very sympathetic and these days no one has to suffer acne untreated. Both of my kids have much better skin now..not perfect but better:)

Lush dark angel facial scrub, had made a huge difference to Ds 16 skin.
