Sporty teenage boy...best deoderant/anti-perspirant?

DS is 15, sporty and active and I have noticed recently his school shirts are getting stains under the armpits which have a strong smell. They all play football at breaks and lunch so that probably doesn't help. he just uses the typical lynx. But are there any products I could buy for him, or his shirts?! Thanks.

Lynx are mostly deodorants and not anti antiperspirants.

DS1 is 16 and complains that whatever antiperspirant he tries he is still sweaty within a couple of hours. We have tried stick and roll ons as well as sprays of all kinds so am interested in any ideas.

The trouble is, the ones that work are not cool!

flow4 that's an impressive list but there seems no clear cut winners. Guess its trial and error. Have bought him a Sure roll on, will try that. Anyone else solved this problem?

He may not like a roll on as he may find it leaves his hair too wet
He may prefer a spray

Have 2 teenage boys at home. Both heavy sweaters, one quite strongly smelling.

The 48 hour Right Guard(?) works for one, the other needs Mitchum. Lynx is added afterwards!

workshy · 17/06/2012 22:12

MItchum is good then whatever spray/aftershave he wants after to smell nice -if he's bothered about smelling nice? Grin

shattereddreams · 17/06/2012 22:16

Mitchum roll on is about the strongest chemist available 'normal' deodorant you can buy. After this, you're getting into the use at night treatment stuff.

Trick is... You gotta let it dry before getting dressed.....
Would he bear you telling him this? There is a men's Mitchum and a girls one if that helps!!

shattereddreams · 17/06/2012 22:17

Oh and the yellow stains in shirts? Nothing gets that out...
DH is a right sweaty one, wears white uniform shirts. They get routinely thrown in bin every 6 months max.

my 16 year old basketball player says rightguard 48 hour is the only one that works, and he really sweats.:o

WingDad · 17/06/2012 22:56

I have a very active job and I swear by Rightguard or Sure. Through summer I actually have a strange habit of using a combination of a bit of roll-on then some dry spray on, but I wouldn't say that's necessary.

And someone has pointed something very relevant, the good ones aren't cool! DS1 (14) almost died when he asked me to buy some and I came home with Sure!

mathanxiety · 18/06/2012 05:51

Anything with at least 20% of the active ingredient should work reasonably well but some teenage boys sweat a lot..

SecretSquirrels · 18/06/2012 13:11

We tried Mitchum but he didn't think it worked. I wonder whether he was putting enough on or letting it dry.
