How did he manage that? DS(13) and shoes

Took DS(13) to get new trainers after he said that his school trainers were rubbing a bit.

When we eventually found a pair that fitted they were size 8s. He had walked into the shop in size 5s! How the heck did he manage? I can only assume that he folded his feet up before putting his shoes on!

Basically he would rather be uncomfortable than inconvenienced by having to leave the house and go to a shoe shop.

When that happened with DS1 I felt like the worst mother. He was in year 6 and had grown taller than me ,seemingly overnight. He went up 3 shoe sizes at once. He's now 16 and 6'2 size 11 feet.
I didn't think I'd make the same mistake twice with DS2 (14) but I did. He seems to have grown much slower than his brother but I didn't believe him when he said his new trainers hurt after 2 weeks. They were size 9s and he needed size 11s.

Same here! My DS also grew over a foot in height and had stretch marks!

Thank goodness it's not just me then! DS is definitely in a growing phase though he only ever grows up not out. He's a runner bean plant and about as self-supporting!
